Ladies’ and Men’s Singles
Vera Alderson, our Club Chair, writes:-
On Sunday 7th September we held the Ladies’ and Gent’s Singles competitions. The green was in excellent condition, but sadly the weather was very wet. Despite the persistent rain the standard of bowling was very high in such challenging conditions.
The Ladies’ final was between Louise Tomlinson and Julie Wharfe with Louise winning with a score of 21/9. Louise was presented with the Rose Bowl Trophy, along with some roses and a bottle of sparkling wine, by Margaret Nelson. Margaret is the sponsor of the Ladies’ Trophy.
The Men’s final was between Colin James and Adrian Tayler – Colin won the game with a score of 21/14. Margaret also presented Colin with the trophy of a decanter and a bottle of whisky. Peter and Gillian Shaw, previous members of the club, sponsored the Men’s Trophy.
The runners-up, Julie and Adrian, were each presented with a bottle of wine.
The afternoon was enjoyed by all, despite the weather, and the cakes provided by Louise were much appreciated. This was the last trophy competition of the season and now we can look forward to next season.
Below on the left you can see Louise being awarded with the Rose Bowl and on the right is Colin James receiving the decanter and whisky.
