End of Season Fun Evening

End of Season Fun Evening

AKA What do we do now? Or, What did he say?

On the evening of Thursday 21st August members from our teams in the Kendal League, the South Westmorland Seniors League, and the Rural League gathered for an evening of extraordinary bowling challenges devised by Ian Telford. Ian himself kept out of the challenges under the pretext of keeping the scores. Members were subjected to playing the jack with the non-dominant hand and then the bowls with the dominant hand; playing the jack with the dominant hand and the bowls with the non-dominant hand; sending the bowls first and then sending the jack; and bowling one bowl with the dominant hand and the other with the non-dominant hand – I think!! The mental gymnastics were as difficult as the games. No wonder the most often heard questions were, “What do we do now?” “What did he say?”

At the end of the evening Robin Wharfe gained 10 points and Louise Tomlinson 9 points. Everyone else was pleased to forget their score as they returned to the club house for refreshments.

Thanks to Ian and the team captains for organising things.
