The Bluebell Trophy

On Sunday, 7th June some of our members played for the Bluebell Trophy, which was given to the club by Richard and Susan Cowie back in 2002.

Surprisingly nice weather greeted us on the green and a really good afternoons bowling was had by all.

At the half way stage members enjoyed refreshments and cakes.

During the break Martin presented a Silver Anniversary Rose to Vera, the Club Captain as a memento of this year being our 25th year as a Club.

Martin Tomlinson ran out the winner on the day beating Mike Warwick in a well played final. Congratulations to Martin on winning the Trophy for the fourth year in succession.

Many thanks to all those that took part in the Bluebell Trophy Competition, and to those who came along to score. A special thanks to Vera Alderson our Club Captain for organising the afternoon. Thanks also to the Green Keepers for preparing the green.

Jack & Jean Isherwood Cumbria Qualifiers

On Friday 29th May we were honoured to host the area qualifiers for the Jack & Jean Isherwood Competition at Heversham B C.

Bowlers from South Cumbria made up the field and there was some outstanding bowling on the day.

Eventually Martin Gilpin and Ian Mitchell played out a great final with Martin running out a worthy winner. Well done to all.

Good luck to the three from our area in the Championship to be held in Shropshire.

We received high praise for the quality of our hosting/the green and especially our catering.

As Chair I feel very proud of the effort our club members put in on the day. This confirmed our capability of hosting top class events at our club in the future.

A brilliant day was had by all. Once again many thanks for everyone’s input on the day.

Cheers

Martin
